New Units to Learn – Yippee!
We
got through the first TWO weeks guys! We were able to accomplish some review in
several subjects. We were reminded of how to write newspaper
articles, genius hour projects, double digit multiplication and long division,
the provinces of Canada and the different states of matter! We are jumping straight
into classroom chemistry, Canadian geography and number sense in our core
subjects. Oh… and we can’t forget the Phys. Ed. classes that Mr. Lowe has
volunteered to teach us Tuesdays and Thursdays! Thanks Mr. Lowe!
We have had two September birthdays so far this year! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GEORGIA & BUOMKUOTH! We also began filming the
morning news again – awesome job Mia, Carter and Beck – very enthusiastic! We
can’t wait to see what next week has in store.
We
have another BBQ/teacher meet and greet next week and we hope to see you all
there! Hot dogs are served outside from 5-6pm by your teachers and the Leadership Job Fair will be ongoing in the gym until 8:00. Please come visit the classroom and tour the school at your own pace. Don't forget to find your teachers and bring your parents to say hello!
Make sure you wear your Sunday best September 22nd for class
pictures! Have
an amazing weekend everyone!
Best
regards,
Ms. Karlen and Ms. Hornseth
Patrollers –they’re back at it again!
We had a magnificent turn out to our Safety
Patrollers training session this week! Constable Hartman took us through the
basics of how to hold a sign and the complexities of what to do in case of
emergencies. We have a new schedule this
year, so that all the spots are filled! Please remember to be on time (early!) for your shifts on each day that you are scheduled. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL PATROLLERS FOR COMMITTING TO THE SAFETY OF EARL GREY THIS
YEAR!
Please take advantage of the $5 Calaway Park admission tickets for next
weekend (September 24, 2016). Also, if you love the Calgary Stampeders, check out the special ticket prices for Patrollers and their families to attend season games!
The new schedule starts next week – see you out
there 5s and 6s! Please email Ms. Penonzek or call the
school in advance if you are ill or out of town – finding a sub is your
responsibility. :D

First Week of Grade Six!
We had a great first week back to school, filled with new experiences and new faces. Teachers and students have been getting to know each other this week, and we are beginning to dive into some of our awesome units in Science and Social Studies. This month, students are excited about our units on Classroom Chemistry, Geography of Canada, and GENIUS HOUR!
Please check back often to see what we are up to in Grade six. We are looking forward to a great year!
If you would like to leave us a comment about the first week of school, we would love to hear from you!
Have a FUN weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Hornseth and Ms. Karlen
